Biography

Tammy was born full term. She was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital at 3 days old and as taken down to theatre at 5 days old for a scope on her throat. They realised that she had paralysed vocal chords. She had a tracheoscomy in situ and had the tracheoscomy for nearly 2 years. She was decannulated in early July 2008.Tammy didn't have very good movement in her limbs at birth and was seen by physio and still sees physio now for weekly sessions. She was discharged from Birmingham Children's but is still under the care of them for her hydrocelphus as she has a vp shunt which was in situ in march/April 2007. She also sees a consultant for her dystonic movements.

She is with professionals at IDS in Warwick. She has a physio, social worker, occupational therapists and speech and language for her feeding. She eats orally but has pureed food. She was tube fed up until she was nearly three years old. she has some lumpy food but only in home surroundings as when in school dinner room etc she doesn't concentrate on what she has in her mouth, so isn't safe to eat lumpy foods with lots of people around. She has had many MRI scans to keep an eye on her VP shunt. The size of the cyst on the back part of her brain is still the same as it was around a year ago after her last MRI but hasn't grown.
