Biography

Danielle is one of twins born six weeks early. She was such a good baby so laid back and was a dream to look after.

When Danielle was 8 we started to notice she was a bit unsteady on her feet and a bit clumsy. I took her to the doctor and we were sent to the hospital to get her checked over as we were due to go on holiday a couple of days after.

Unfortunately after many tests and an MRI it was discovered that Danielle had a brain tumour on her brain stem. Danielle spent the next 9 months solid in hospital for treatment and also suffered many complications such as brain infections and preasure on her brain needing a shunt to be fitted in January 2008.

After intensive radiotherapy, Danielle needed to have a very dangerous operation to try and remove some of the tumour as unfortunately the radiotherapy hadn't worked. This was an eight houur operation. Danielle was very poorly and had to learn to walk again and do many things again. We spent 4 months at the Children's Trust in Surrey for neuro rehab.

Danielle then started at a special needs school in 2009 she still has her problems bless her she does cope very well. Unfortunately last year she suffered her first seizure so now sees the epliepsy nurse as well as regular trips for endiocrine oncology and therapy but takes it all in her stride.
