Thank you

Thank you so much for Arthur's wonderful quilt!! He's enjoyed looking at the beautiful pictures you've made for him. He particularly liked the Piggie on the card and even smiled at it, which is wonderful as he's still learning to see and to smile

Biography

Arthur was born early at 35 weeks gestation and when he was 2 days old he had his first recorded seizure, although we think from looking at photographs he was having seizures from birth. Arthur was admitted to a neurological ward and could have 100s of seizures a day which proved increasingly resistant to anti-seizure medication.

Arthur was started on the ketogenic diet and this has been amazing for him. He went seizure free for 6 months and a further 8 months with the odd laughing seizure. Recently Arthur has begun to struggle with seizures again but we hope we can sort this soon.

As time has gone on Arthur has struggled with eating and taking his medication. In January 2014 it was decided he would have an NG tube fitted for his many medications. Over the course of 2014 Arthur drank less & less of his milk & the NG was used more & more until in October 2014 when Arthur had an operation to place a permanent feeding tube into his tummy. This has meant we get Arthur's pretty face back, but has sadly had a negative impact on his digestive system and means he suffers from painful reflux and is sick on a daily basis.

Despite all this Arthur is a happy and social child. One of his biggest achievements was learning to smile and it really lights up our world as we never expected him to do this. He faces his daily struggles bravely and works very hard in his therapy sessions. Arthur loves meeting people & will chat to them in his own special way. Unsurprisingly he has a fondness for nurses and can be a bit of a flirt!
