Biography

Daniel was born with half a heart with two other defects (chd). He spent the first week in hospital having tests and scans. He was lucky to miss first surgery as a newborn as one of his other defects helped with the blood flow in his little heart. At 3 months he had a cath lab test to get measurements of his heart ready for the second stage surgery.
Daniel went home 24 hours later and spent one night before he became lifeless and his oxygen levels dropped to 20%. He was rushed to the local hospital until a bed was available at the children’s hospital. Unfortunately he went downhill with low oxygen levels 7/8 times a day. He was put on oxygen until surgery was available. He spent two weeks on oxygen to the point they wanted to ventilate him until surgery to give his body a rest. Luckily he didn’t need to as the next day he had emergency open heart surgery on the day he turned 4 months old. He recovered amazingly well and was home day 5 after surgery. He’s very strong, he might have half a heart but has twice the fight in him .
He’s 19 months now and will soon have the third stage life saving heart surgery to keep him alive.
