Biography

He was born by emergency c-section. When he was born he was in neonatal as he was extremely unwell, he was born with sepsis and underwent a traumatic amount of testing for meningitis etc.

Following on from this Kailo was always unwell, he was always in pain and really suffered with gastro problems. He was in and out of hospital having to be on ventilators, hdu etc. In October last year Kailo was sent away from the doctors one evening, they said he had a typical virus. This time it was different, his eyes kept rolling and he was exhausted physically so that evening I trusted my gut and took him to a&e. Two hours later he was on life support and no-one thought he would make it. Kailo's lungs had collapsed, during this his heart rate stopped and they had to perform cpr. Kailo made it and had some bad side affects when he was woken from life support, including seizures and had to have more tests. He was only 5 months old at this stage and this is something that will forever stay with us.
On going from this Kailo was diagnosed with early onset asthma and anaphylactic allergies. He had lots of tests for things such as cystic fibrosis but everything kept coming back normal.
He's had a really difficult start to life as he's had more than 25 hospital admissions since birth. Around 1 year old Kailo declined in things he was progressing with, he stopped talking and started showing signs of autism. We have to attend 6 weekly appointments for his breathing problems as well as all his other illnesses. We are currently waiting to attend Portage to receive assessments and help for his communication and development. We believe, as well as the hospital, that ASD is highly likely.
