Biography

Lincoln was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy when he was just 2 years old. Duchenne or DMD as it’s often shortened to is a degenerative muscle wasting condition.

We first noticed signs when Lincoln wasn’t progressing like his peers. He wasn’t sitting, standing or walking at similar ages. He also seemed to get tired out quickly. Due to this fatigue Lincoln struggled attending mainstream full time school so we started flexi schooling when he would just go in two days a week which then became full time by the time he was six.

Lincoln got his first wheelchair when he was four years old but as he’s getting older he uses it daily if we are out and about. Lincoln is now 8 years old and has been through more than an 8 year old should have to. His DMD has caused lots of issue including lots of falls. He has recently been receiving treatment following back fractures due to a fall. He feels cold often due to also having Raynaud's and so loves being snuggled in a blanket. It would be so special to know he’s being wrapped in love from a blanket made by so many special people.

He is the kindest and most loving little boy who absolutely deserves the world. If I had to pick a hero he would most certainly be mine.
