Biography

Previous to Emma being born me and Emma's mum sadly lost our son with Rett Syndrome when he was 22 months old. Therefore, when we went on to have more children there were antenatal checks to determine whether the baby would also have the condition. This was confirmed whilst carrying Emma.

Emma has since been diagnosed with many other conditions including epilepsy, for which she wears a protective helmet. Due to her complex needs Emma has many frequent visits to hospital. However, regardless of what pain she feels she always carries the world's biggest smile and the most infectious laugh!

Emma has a gastrostomy in place and takes all liquids and medication through this. She has recently been placed on an overnight drip feeding machine and even this doesn't stop her smiling and being happy.

Emma's speech is limited to a few words and she is due to be given her very own VOCA (communication aid) soon.

Emma loves cuddles and being with family and this quilt will give her all the extra comfort needed when going in and out of hospital and whilst at home.
