BiographyJack was a healthy baby and reached all his developmental milestones as normal. Until aged 4 when it was clear Jack had problems with running, jumping etc. We saw a paediatrician and Jack was referred for a blood test. This came back with the devastating news that Jack had Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Jack is now 11 and due to the progression of Duchenne, he is slowly losing the ability to walk. He has just started secondary school and at a time when he should be gaining more independence, he is needing much more support with daily tasks. Jack is finding this very difficult to take but he is also fiercely determined and independent and tries his best to make the most of the situation. Jack is my hero!
