A huge thank you from Elsie and family! Elsie is SO delighted with her beautiful quilt it's really very special. What a lot of work had gone into it - it's a treasure.
Elsie had done some little cross stitch crafts before and loves to sew and knit simple things herself (knitting has been her go to during all the chemotherapy treatment) so she actually has a quite a good understanding for a nine-year-old about just how much work has gone into the quilt and she's very, very touched.

Today is the fifth day after her monthly chemo (which continues for nearly another year as leukeamia treatment is very long) and she's aching and feeling very tired and wanting to just watch TV and knit. However she's loving being tucked up in her quilt - it will be a real comfort to her!

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project. Elsie will hopefully treasure her quilt for many years

Biography

Elsie was a happy, healthy 8 year old who loved gymnastics and playing with her sister and everything else an 8 year old loves, growing up in Yorkshire leading a normal life. She then became unwell with a chest infection and getting very low in energy before being diagnosed with Leukaemia in January 2023.

Since being diagnosed Elsie has undergone heavy chemotherapy continuing throughout 2023 and although she's thankfully in remission she will continue to receive lower level chemotherapy until Feb 2025 because childhood Leukaemia has such a long chemotherapy programme. Although she often feels very low in energy Elsie has been very cheerful and happy throughout most of her treatment - she is a ray of sunshine despite what she has had to go through.
