Biography

Gracie was born in 2014. Gracie had the cord round her neck twice & didn’t cry for a few minutes. Gracie was discharged the same day to come home.

From an early age I thought something was wrong and I raised concerns to Gracie’s health visitor when she was 9mths as she wasn’t using her right arm. That’s when we found out she had right side hemiplegia and cerebral palsy. I was also told they thought Gracie might have had a small stroke inside the womb (mum believes it was labour that started Gracie’s complications in life). Then not long after being diagnosed, she had a seizure and she was diagnosed with epilepsy, she had tonic clonic, absence and drop seizures. It hasn’t been nice to watch Gracie have tubes to help her breathe when she has a seizure but now she is 11yrs old and her seizures are more controlled but are still there.

Gracie is a happy & content girl. She can’t walk or talk but she knows what she wants and does her best to communicate through her eyes what she would like or makes her happy.
