BiographyMadison was born 7 weeks early. They told us that she had Down syndrome and duodenal atresia which needed operating on. Also they discovered Madison had 2 holes in her heart. Madison went to Sheffield but due to her heart problems had to be moved to LGI at Leeds. Madison had chronic lung disease so was on oxygen. Madison then became really poorly and was on life support, we were told our baby girl wasn’t going to make it. That was something you just don’t want to hear it so I asked for a second opinion and that’s when they said we will try steroids.
Madison was on life support and we had her christened. We had a meeting to say the steroids were working and it was the best news. She was still poorly but they decided to do her open heart surgery. We were told to say good bye as Madison might not make it but we got the phone call to say she was ok and the op had gone well. Madison spent the first 10 months in hospital until we finally came home though she kept having to go back in when she was poorly. Madison is 10 now and doing ok. She still has problems but she’s the most beautiful, caring, funny little girl ever and we love her so much.
