Child Interests

He doesn't have a favourite colour yet, Green, Blue, Red. His favourite interests are currently Numberblocks he watches this a lot and recently got him some of the Numberblock character toys, he loves Thomas the tank engine and friends, he also loves Paw patrol and Disney Pixar Cars. He can name all the characters and all the numbers 1-20 he's obsessed with different colours, singing his abc, he loves cars and playing with wheels. He's obsessed with water play and will play for hours happily with water. He's obsessed loves animals and all living things. He loves balloons and bubbles.

Biography

Ryan was born in 2023, at 1 year old he started banging his head off the floor, doors, walls, windows, tables. His headbanging is very extreme. His speech is delayed, he flaps, spins, he lines up his toys in a row, and colours. He has no danger awareness, will run off into roads, in front of cars, swings, etc. He throws himself to the floor and bangs his head, he hits himself on his head, he hits himself with toys, he presses toys into his cheeks. He struggles with change, transitions. He has sensory sensitivities and can't cope with loud noises or too many at the same time. Struggles immensely with his emotions.

He has a SEN early years advisor, an octupational therapist, paediatrician. He is undergoing assessments and awaiting more assessments. I have had to take him hospital multiple times due to his extreme headbanging and causing harm to himself. I have purchased a SEN safe bed for him so he is safe in bed. His preschool Senco has recently asked that I purchase a SEN safety helmet for him as they are also very concerned about his head banging at the preschool and scared of a serious injury happening.
