Biography

Noah was born at 39weeks via emergency c section. He was a beautiful baby boy, very content and happy! He was such an easy baby, always happy. He started standing at 11months and was walking just before his 1st birthday. He started with a few words around 1 such as mama, dada and his favourite word was bye!

As Noah reached 14 months old all verbal communication stopped. He would point and lead us to what he needed or wanted. Around the same time he started to refuse food and stopped answering his name. Noah was referred to speech and language therapy to assist with ways of helping Noah communicate and practical things to help encourage speech. Noah can now say a lot more however it is still very limited.

Noah was referred to Portage by an amazing health visitor and this is when the ball started rolling in getting him his diagnosis. He started nursery at about 2.5 years old, he found this quite a hard transition. He didn't engage with other children and still finds it very difficult now. Noah is now in year 1 at primary school and while he does enjoy going he finds it hard to make friends but he has his brother there with him in reception (year 1 and reception are a mixed group in his school) and he finds comfort in this.
