update of 2015. A lot has already been happening at LQUK though! First, some very sad news. One of our stitchers Judith Saebel sadly passed away quite suddenly last Saturday after suffering a stroke :( We would like to pay tribute to Judith who stitched a number of lovely squares and cards for LQUK. Judith's squares can be seen here and the quilts Judith's squares featured on are here Our thoughts are with Judith's family. Rest in peace, Judith. donations :) 2014 Review of the YearWelcome to the LoveQuiltsUK review of 2014! It’s been a truly record-breaking year for LoveQuiltsUK and we’d like to spend a little while looking back over the year and thanking people who have helped us. Gaynor has tried to remember everything that’s happened during this year but life is busy and she may have forgotten a few things! If you feel we’ve left you out, please do email us on contact@lovequiltsuk.com and we will gladly add you to the year review! Stitching and Quilting We have all been very busy during 2014 stitching squares, stitching and making cards and quilting! Total squares received in 2014: 1991 squares! Total quilts delivered in 2014: 141 Quilts! (14 of these were emergency quilts) That brings our overall total to 396 quilts since 2008. We passed our 5000 square milestone in April, and our 6000 square milestone in October! We also passed our 300 quilt milestone in May, and as we enter the New Year we are very close to 400 quilts (currently 396) THANK YOU to every one of you who have sent in beautiful squares and/or quilted them together into gorgeous quilts this year. Emergency Quilts Many thanks to Leanda and Heather for taking on the job of storing the emergency quilt stash and sending them out quickly – this has really helped Kat and Gaynor out. Also thanks to the others who are storing emergency quilts they have made. Cards Thank you to Sandra and Debbie who organise the cards we send out with the quilts via our Facebook group. Mrs T Mrs T (Gaynor’s Mum) has washed the majority of the fabric and duvet covers used for LQUK this year, before sending out to quilters. Thank you Mrs T for your largely unseen efforts! Auditor We’d like to thank Jean of Swansea who very kindly audited our accounts for free at the beginning of 2013. We’d also like to thank David Moss of Swansea for assisting with our bank account. Support from Businesses We would like to particularly thank Lee Mill Fabrics in Swansea for offering LQUK a discount on cotton fabrics this year, Katzstitch who have catered to LQUK stitchers by selling Aida in our required size (13 x 13 inches) and offering a discount on top, and Colour Catchers who donated 36 boxes to us a couple of years back and we are still using them! We are also grateful to BTMyDonate and Just Text Giving from Vodafone for allowing us to accept credit/debit card and SMS donations for free. In Memoriam It is the nature of our work that some of our quilt recipients pass away from time to time :( This year we would like to remember: Jack B, William F, Ryan M and Harvey M. Rest in peace xx No year review would be complete without taking a look back on the quilts that were delivered this year.
