Calendar 2021
Clare Bray is once again creating the LoveQuilts Calendar for 2021!

Here's a few words from Clare:

The calendar has pictures of squares, quilting and children with their quilts and is sold in the autumn with all profits going to LQ. So please send in photos of your favourite squares, of your children with their quilts, of making the quilts, and any imaginative shots eg with pets, stitching outside/on a zipwire/in a submarine, etc. You can send in as many photos as you like and everyone is in with a chance of getting in as it's no more than one main photo per person. You don't need to be an amazing photographer to enter and you are helping LQUK by entering! Parents, I usually get all the kids entered in, on the back page if they don’t get onto the main pages, so please do enter your childrens’ pictures as we love to have them on the calendar :-)

Rules:

- Photos must be emailed to lovequiltscalendar@gmail.com By emailing pictures of your children or squares to this address you are giving permission for them to be used in the calendar. You can't enter on Facebook and please don't copy pictures back from Facebook then email them - I need the originals.

- Photos from cameras or mobile phones are fine, try and have the file size as large as possible (within reason!). To photograph squares, ideally do them on a light day away from direct sunlight. Photograph from above so that the stitching is straight on in the picture, rather than at an angle. Please leave a decent margin of unstitched white fabric in the photo around the stitched image as this makes it much easier to use. Don't worry about having too much fabric in the photo as I can crop it, whereas I can't add in fabric if the stitching goes right to the edge of the photo. And please make sure the squares are washed and IRONED first. Creased squares really don't look good in photos and it isn't extra work since we do this to send in squares to LQ anyway :)

- No labels unless in a context shot (stitching with a dog etc)

- Beware of scanners. I've only had one person send in good quality scanned images; the others have all been very bleached and "flattened", and when I've tried scanning my own stitching I've had the same effect. Cameras and phones generally seem to give better results.

- I will reply to all emails received so you know I've got them, but give me a fair amount of time to do this.

- If everyone could help out saying about the calendar and giving the email address on any kids' photos which would be good for it, or any other particularly eye catching photos, that would be very helpful.

- Deadline is 30th June but it helps if everything isn't left till the last minute so you can email in photos from now.




Email problems
We've had a few email problems over the last two weeks with Hotmail and Yahoo over-aggressively filtering for spam. If you have not received the confirmation email for your signups, please have a look on the child's page on our website and you should see "In Progress" next to your square. Gaynor has also produced this page where you can see all your signups quickly: See My Signups


Merete's Stitch-a-long
Merete released a LQ Superhero Stitch-a-long on our Facebook group lately. It has been very popular and we have had to cap numbers to 25 so that we don't get too many squares of the same design! Watch out for more stitch-a-longs from Merete in the future, and hope the lucky 25 are enjoying the current one!
