Washing Squares
We've noticed that the number of unwashed squares coming in is starting to creep up again - could we ask everyone to please :) make the effort to wash them before sending them in. It helps so much in organising the quilt packs and sending them out to the quilters, and therefore on to the children, on time. It doesn't take long if everyone washes their own, but it does take ages for Kat to wash and dry dozens of unwashed squares, and it can delay things quite a bit if squares come in right on the deadline unwashed!


Knots in squares
Apart from French knots, there shouldn't be any knots in squares. We have noticed a few squares coming in like this - please don't tie a knot, instead pass your thread through the back of 3-4 existing stitches, and back through 1-2 stitches (ask on our Facebook group if unsure). Quilters are increasingly having to secure ends with sticky interfacing - we really need all ends to be secure as the quilts will be washed many times during their lifetime and we don't want the lovely cross-stitch designs unravelling!


BT blocking our emails
If you have a BT email address, you may have noticed we've been a bit quiet lately - this is because BT have been blocking our email address! After 8 weeks of appealing to them, they have finally lifted the block (many thanks to Jill Smith who helped us a lot with this!). There are many other addresses still being blocked by BT, however.


Fundraising Stamps
Just a reminder that we're still collecting stamps - if you have a few, just pop them in with your squares. Don't send them on their own as we don't get much money for them, so it wouldn't be worth the postage. However, it doesn't cost anything to pop a few in with a square as they're so light and they mount up over time.

Such a long time since our last news update!

Kat and Gaynor were away in August when both were on holiday (separately) in the USA. Gaynor spent some of the time visiting Walmart and JoAnn's fabrics to pick up some fabrics for LQUK that are difficult to get in the UK (mainly character fabrics)

Lucky Draw
Thank you very much to Cath Willey who ran a competition (ending August 31st) where those who sent in Any Child squares in a "high priority" category were entered into a draw. Over 40 people sent in 80 squares - well done to everyone who look part. The winner was Leanda Vickers who won a stitching frame. Well done Leanda, and well done to Cath for organising!
