Any Child Squares
Love Quilts UK is in need of squares that will be used for 'Any Child'.
These squares are used if a sign-up for a quilt fails to come in.
If we have a lot of one category and there is a quilter
available, Any Child squares also sometimes become part of an extra "backfilled" quilt for a child in our lottery system or an Emergency Quilt which we make up and
keep in reserve to send out in a hurry.
We depend on these squares as most quilts usually require at least one Any Child square, therefore we need to keep
a stock of a variety of themes. We ask stitchers to concentrate on the more popular themes as these are the squares we need most
and are likely to be used up quickly. We have indicated below which are the most popular themes, with some extra information about
popular colours etc.
We ask in particular that stitchers do not stitch any
Clowns - they are a very widespread phobia
and are very difficult to place on quilts. There are a few other areas to avoid: please do not
stitch any circus scenes involving animals (due to the Wild Animals in Circuses Act 2019) no
scenes of Cowboys and Indians (fighting or otherwise) or religious symbols (unless specifically requested)
There is no need to formally sign up for Any Child squares - just stitch them and send them in! :)
Here are the squares we have at the moment and some advice about the best themes/colours to stitch:

High Priority
These are the squares we need most. Don't worry if there appear to be a lot in the category already, we have many children waiting for these themes and when we are able to do an extra quilt, having squares in the following themes makes things very easy for us! Each extra quilt will scoop up 11/12 of these squares.
 Dinosaurs (15) | Both "cartoon-style" dinosaurs and "realistic-style" dinosaurs are fine. |
 Princesses (28) | This is an extremely popular theme. In particular, "Disney Princesses" are very popular with girls. These include Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Ariel (The Little Mermaid), etc. We need as many squares for this category as we can get! |
 Space (22) | This theme includes Moon, planets, rockets, stars, constellations, Space Shuttle, astronauts, satellites, telescopes and the odd alien is fine too. No robots please! |
 Superheroes (39) | Another extremely popular theme, particularly with boys. Superheroes include Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Captain America, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, The Incredibles, Thor, The X-Men, The Avengers, etc. For patterns please see here Full-figure Superheroes are especially welcome as we tend to receive a lot of headshots (though those are good too!) |

Low priority
These themes are low priority at the moment because either we have a lot of these squares to use up, or the themes are not currently popular with the children in our lottery system.
