Thank youToday our Jacob's quilt arrived. It took all my will power not to rip it open myself but I managed and waited until he got home from school. He was over the moon with it!! He keeps asking why people wanted to make something for him. He has spent ages looking over every beautifully stitched square asking us to tell him where they're from. We have explained that they have come from all over the world. He has asked me to text the whole world to say thank you. So from one delighted little boy and one very overwhelmed Mummy THANK-YOU! | ||||||||||||

BiographyJacob was born 12 weeks early with meconium illeus which had ruptured and become septic. He received surgery for this - to remove part of his bowel at only 3 days old. He spent 5 months in Yorkhill Hospital with numerous complications including a heart defect common in preterm babies. While fixing this a nerve was damaged causing a vocal chord palsy. This in turn has given him feeding issues which we now seem to have overcome. He spent 6 weeks on a ventilator causing damage to his lungs so his start point has never been great. He has the reactive airways (asthma) component of CF so he does struggle a bit more with his breathing. Jacob was tube fed for 7 months and to this day he still struggles with his weight. He is currently just below the 9% line for weight. This is partly because, due to CF his pancreas doesn't produce enzymes so we give a medication called Creon with everything he eats. We manage his condition at home with multiple physio sessions and medications each day. He visits hospital at least every 8 weeks to be thoroughly checked over. |
