BiographyLucas was born 13 weeks prematurely weighing 2lb 6oz, along with his twin brother Reuben, who we sadly lost after 10 days. Lucas has been through lots, losing his twin brother. Lucas also caught meningitis, which is the cause of him having cerebral palsy.
He wears splints and regularly has to endure painful Botox injections directly into his muscles in his legs, which are tight. He also has a degree of low tone in his trunk. He never complains and goes to Riding for the Disabled, Cubs, Swimming, Wheelchair Tennis and Framed Football. He is our shining star and we will never forget his brother, who we have also included as one of Lucas's middle names. We have also lost a little sister called Grace at just under 20 weeks. We will never forgot Lucas's twin brother or his sister and our attitude in our house is "can do", just doing things slightly different at times.
Lucas will have to endure surgery when he's a bit older, due to the muscles in his legs and growth spurts and to keep him mobile in his Kaye Walker and quad sticks (which he uses at home). He uses his wheelchair for trips out and longer distances.
