Just wanted to say such a very big thank you for Poppy's quilt. It's absolutely beautiful and we got a big smile from her when we showed her the quilt. She was kicking her leg which she does when she is happy and excited so we are sure she loves it too. We will really treasure it!


We can see there has been a lot of care, time and effort put into making the quilt and we so very much appreciate it. You are an amazing charity and wonderful people to do this out of pure kindness. Pops is very lucky to have such a special and personal gift and it's really brightened our day to receive it.

Thank you to everyone involved. It will take pride of place on her bed.

Biography

Poppy was born after a full term pregnancy and within 16 hours it became apparent there were issues. Poppy was very jittery and not feeding. She was admitted to the hospital neonatal unit and given a nasal gastric tube for feeding and oxygen. Poppy slowly started tolerating small volumes of feed orally but after an MRI scan was shown to have brain damage and was sent home advising to wait and see how she would develop but that regular physio was needed . She was still mainly fed by a tube through her nose.

After 3 months Poppy started suffering with infant spasms (up to 40 a day) and would no longer take any feed orally. Her parents were then advised she was life limited and she was unlikely to live past 2 years old.

Today Poppy is 4 years old, fed by a mini gastrostomy button in her stomach and she is non-verbal and unable to sit up or walk. She has lots of physio every day and suffers regularly with reflux and an airway obstruction causing noisy breathing. Despite all this Poppy loves life and enjoys her cuddles, loves her music (especially George Ezra and daddy on the guitar) and enjoys having stories read to her. She makes us proud every day.
