Biography

Ella was born in 2004. She was a floppy baby at birth and unable to feed. Initially they tried to say she was just a tired baby but after 6 weeks of continued weight loss she was admitted to hospital. She stayed there for nearly 2 months. During this time Ella was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome.

She is 14 now and takes every thing in her stride. She is also diagnosed with autism and her pituitary gland doesn’t function so all her hormones are artificial including growth hormone. At 14 she is the size of an average 10 year old. She has to take oestrogen to prevent further illness like osteoporosis. She has poor muscle tone so has continued chest infections a weakened immune system, hypermobile joints and many more difficulties. Obviously, typically for Prader-Willi syndrome, she food seeks and her world revolves around seeking her next meal and how she can get access to food.

Even with everything that life throws at her she always has a smile on her face and loves life. She is fanatical about animals and jigsaw puzzles
