BiographyAlishah had an MRI scan straight after birth which confirmed she had large ventricles on the right side of her brain. This meant her brain wasn’t growing as it was supposed to. Doctors confirmed Alishah was going to have some special needs throughout her life. Alishah doesn’t take any food by mouth and is fed through a gastrostomy tube.
Physically Alishah’s growth was good, but because of her brain not giving her signals at 6 months we discovered that Alishah can’t see either. She’s not mobile at all so needs support and assistance for all of her personal care. At the age of 16 months Alishah started to show signs of epilepsy and is still taking medication.
Soon after turning 2 Alishah also started to have sleepless nights Even though we started her on some medication and tried numerous ways to help her sleep she still has on and off nights when nothing really works and she’s awake and upset the whole night.
As time has passed, due to her immobility, Alishah often suffers with chest infections or catches viruses very easily. We have to give her antibiotics regularly to keep her away from infections.
