Thank you

Hi
I just want to put a massive thank you to all of those that helped make Noah’s quilt. He is so so happy with it, we’ve had to take it out on the car with us today as he didn’t want to leave it behind. He has sat on it, played on it, slept on it, watched tv on it, ate his lunch on it and kissed every square!
Thank you so much for all you efforts and for making my little boy so happy!

Biography

Noah was our miracle baby. As a mum with Type 1 diabetes for 23yrs, the pregnancy wasn’t easy. We were told early on that Noah would arrive at 37 weeks, this changed to 35, then 32 when it was discovered that I had developed kidney failure. I went for a check up at 26 weeks and we were told Noah would be joining us in the next 48 hours. We managed to keep him in for 9 more days before Noah arrived via c-section. 2 days before Noah was born we were taken to the neonatal unit and shown where Noah would go immediately after he was born.
I always remember asking the Dr what does Noah need to do to be ok, her reply was breathe and he did. He breathed on his own for the first 6 minutes of his life but complications set in and he was placed on a ventilator.
We spent 4 months in hospital and Noah was on oxygen throughout. He had a collapsed lung 3 times, was in & out of intensive care and had steroids to help his lungs, We were told on 4 occasions that Noah wasn’t going to make it and he had suspected sepsis twice. It was like being on a roller coaster backwards, being dragged by your feet in the dark!
We were told from day one about Noah’s chronic lung disease and that he would be an oxygen dependent baby, coming home on oxygen. I told the Drs he wasn’t coming home on oxygen, that he was strong, that he was a man of god and that I had faith in him! 5 days before we left the hospital he became oxygen free and all those wires, tubes and invasive materials were gone. My baby was doing it for himself.
He has continued to do it for himself although he needs inhalers on a daily basis and we’ve been in hospital on several occasions with bronchiolitis and chest infections.
Every Friday Noah and I spend the day at the zoo. We talk about the animals and learn something new every time. His favourite animal is the giraffe, in fact that was one of his first words. He also loves the lion, elephant and sun bear. He can make the noises for these animals.
