Biography

George has had it very tough!
2 years ago we fled domestic violence and stayed in a Woman’s Refuge for 6 Months. We got housed after that in a different town.

This year George become very poorly and lost a lot of weight. The doctor and I thought it was anxiety and depression. Things started to get a lot worse. He lost so much weight and was drinking bottles and bottles of water and going to the toilet a lot.

One day he went to school. As I picked him up he collapsed! I took him to the doctor's straight away and he was sent straight to hospital and was diagnosed.

The first night was horrendous for George, and it was extremely worrying as a mum. He had ketoacidosis and was extremely poorly.
He spent a week in hospital and the doctors and nurses were amazing!! Every time George eats or drinks now for the rest of his life he has to inject insulin into himself and plan ahead with meals and drinks.

He’s been an extremely brave boy and I’m so very proud of him xx
