Biography
Riley’s birth was pretty straightforward but soon after he started missing the normal milestones. At 11 months he had his first seizures which meant hospital admission and lots of tests.
The first tests came back as Riley having a chromosome disorder but they needed further blood tests to determine which type.
Eventually in June 2015 we received the diagnosis of a very rare chromosome disorder called trisomy 9 mosaicism. We were told there are only 150 people known worldwide with this chromosome abnormality.
He also ended up in hospital after a severe allergic reaction to banana and kiwi fruit.
He has two types of seizure, absence seizures and seizures where he can’t control his eye movement which can be very distressing to him.
He is registered disabled as his movement is quite limited and, although he can manage to walk very short distances, he falls often and tires very quickly.
