BiographyArchie was born in 2008. He made a dramatic entrance 2 months early with both of us being poorly leading to an emergency c-section. I didn't see Archie for 2 days as I was unconscious after complications. When I awoke the nurses were very teary and I thought "oh no he's passed away!" The Dr came and told me Archie had been born with an extra chromosome, a hole in the heart and a murmur, but he was alive and the diagnosis was minor compared to his health issues.
After 10 weeks in picu we came home. We were lucky in that in our area within a month there had been 7 babies born with Down's syndrome so we were all there to support each other. Growing up Archie has had several operations due to his narrow ear canals, his sight plus his tonsils out. He attended mainstream school until he was senior school age and now attends a fantastic special school.
