BiographyIsla was born in 2013, and was the first child for her mummy and daddy. Isla was a perfect baby girl and loved going to baby groups with mummy and met lots of friends whom we still see now. Isla loves going to nursery and was so excited to start big school and also became a big sister to a baby brother when she was four years old. Isla is an amazing big sister and loves playing with her baby brother.
When Isla was five and having a bath, I noticed a lump on Isla's tummy. Four hours later we were on the children’s oncology ward at Leeds Children’s Hospital. Isla was diagnosed with a wilms tumour (kidney tumour). She underwent chemotherapy and had her kidney removed in December 2019. In January 2020 Isla finished her treatment and went back to school full time.
Unfortunately in June 2020 at a routine scan we found out Isla had relapsed and she began chemotherapy again. Isla has coped amazingly through her treatment and joined her classmates in September 2020 when everyone returned to school. She has just completed a month of radiotherapy and coped brilliantly with the treatment. Isla is doing really well and continues to enjoy school and loves seeing her friends.
