Biography

Rowan was born a little early but very well and only spent 10 days in neonatal unit. After 2 weeks at home, Rowan stopped breathing and was rushed to hospital where he had more episodes of stopping breathing. He was then rushed to a specialist hospital and was put into a medical induced coma. It was discovered Rowan had contracted menengitis.

After 11 long days, Rowan was brought out of the coma and was transferred to our local hospital where he was discovered to be having seizures. They were very hard to control and after a further month of being in hospital we were allowed home.

Rowan has complex epilepsy which affects him daily. He is on 2 different medications for his epilepsy and has tried lots more. However he seems to be doing fairly well on the 2 we have found. Rowan is not able to have brain surgery due to the epilepsy coming from all over the brain (they would have to remove too much) so it was determined he wouldn't be a candidate. Rowan was then diagnosed with Quad CP which affects his 4 limbs. Rowan is a wheelchair user, although he can walk a little he tires very quickly. Rowan sleeps a lot during the day, as a result of medication and seizure activity. Rowan is never short of a smile and has a huge heart with lots of love to offer.
