Biography

Bernard was born July 2019 and was perfect. He had no serious health issues and continued to have nothing except for a “pot belly” that we became more and more concerned by. Unfortunately, by this point it was during the pandemic and harder to see a doctor.

After being referred for an ultrasound we were given the devastating news that our 18 month old baby had cancer. The last few months have consisted of many general anaesthetics, sedations, scans, minor surgery and multiple chemotherapy sessions.

We have struggled massively with not only the cancer and surgery, but the fact COVID protocols mean only one parent is allowed to be present at all times.

In March our brave boy had huge surgery to remove the tumour and his left kidney. The histopathology of the mass showed he needed another 6 months of weekly chemotherapy.

Through the whole ordeal the person taking it in his stride is Bernard. He’s been amazing, brave and full of smiles. We are truly in awe of how awesome he is!
