Thank you

Kia has been in hospital and came home last night. She has opened the package this morning and can clearly say that she totally loves it !!

She has got a few weeks of meds and treatment so this is going to keep her warm and safe while she tries to gain some strength back.

It it beautiful and can’t thank you enough, the detail and time spent on making something which will make such a difference to Kia is beyond words. Can’t thank you enough.

Biography

Kia was born at 36 weeks and was instantly unable to maintain blood sugar levels. She spent 10 weeks in special care and then a had a cast to help with her hips. A ng feed and then peg were placed at 1 year old.

Straight after she suffered with rare rhabdomyolysis and her organs started to break down. She then spent 9 months in hospital while being placed on TPN. She is connected to the machines 24hrs a day. This has affected her growth and at 8 years old she is 7.2kg. Kia has spent about 4 years in hospital in wards and ICU fighting sepsis, where we have been told that her body just can’t fight any more.

Her last admission was in February with Covid. This again turned to sepsis and affected her potassium levels. She was then also diagnosed with Addison's disease meaning she is on lifelong steroids which are given IV every 6 hours for life. She has all medication IV as she cannot take anything orally. She has just been put under the care of the local hospice and has an end of life care plan in place.

Kia cannot attend school nor do what a normal child can do. She is confined to being at home 99% of her life and missed her total childhood. Her abilities will slowly get worse.
