BiographyPhoenix was overdue by a week but came out a happy healthy baby. She has lead a normal happy healthy life getting involved in all sorts of activities and sports over the years. She had a natural skill at swimming and joined a local club and competed, winning races at local competitions. She is bright and interested in most things. She loves art and is very talented.
When she was 8 she enjoyed a year living in Sweden, going to school, making Swedish friends and learning the language.
However, in April 2021 when Scottish schools reopened after another COVID closure she caught a sinus infection. Within a week or so it became clear this wasn't a normal 'germ' that she had caught. It triggered chronic headaches and regular migraines. She is sensitive to light and sound and it became clear quickly she could not return to school. After 6 months of investigations and medications she was told she had 'chronic fatigue syndrome' and POTs and doctors had nothing to offer that could help. Since then the constant pain means she has to isolate herself from extreme light and noise. Her POTs means she struggles to keep an even temperature and when upright she will overheat and blackout.
Life for Phoenix is now limited to home, she cannot play computer games anymore. Her days are spent watching TV when she can, hanging out with our pet dog Fletcher or talking to mum. When she can she does still draw. She has a few online lessons a week to try to keep her engaged and in the loop.
