BiographyJaiden was born in 2009. He is the second child out of five. I (his mum) have a background in childcare and noticed very early on that something was different and that his development was on the slower side. He started nursery at 2 where it was soon picked up that he has a few sensory issues especially around food and was very slow to talk. This was at first put down to the fact that he had many, many ear infections resulting in glue ear and hearing loss. After 3 sets of grommets to fix the glue ear he was finally referred to a child psychologist who then saw what I saw and referred him for assessment.
Jaiden was diagnosed with Autism when he was 7, as well as an eating disorder and sensory processing disorder. He is now 14 and learning to cope with the issues he faces. He struggles very much in school, not only with the work but with the social side. He does not like any attention on him which makes it difficult for staff to help but he is very lucky that he has 2 good friends that look out for him. His struggles include noisy environments, smells, changes to routine, being around people he doesn’t know well and all aspects of personal care.
