BiographyHeidi was born at 36 weeks and suffered a HIE event (a lack of oxygen to the brain) at some point around her birth. She was then transferred to another hospital for therapeutic hypothermia to try and prevent further brain damage. She initially spent 4 weeks in hospital and has had many hospital trips since. Heidi now has epilepsy, low muscle tone and global developmental delay. She is also nil by mouth and has had a surgery to have a peg feeding tube.
Currently she has lots of appointments, therapies and hospital trips. Although she is a very happy, brave girl with such a big character she currently is unable to sit up, crawl, walk, talk or eat and we are unsure whether this will improve. She is an amazing little girl who works so hard every day.
