BiographyDarcey was born a healthy little girl, but it wasn't until she had her 1st set of immunisations that she had her 1st seizure due to having a high temperature.
Dravet syndrome is a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Darcey can have up to 5 different types of seizures which are usually due to her being unwell or when her temperature changes. Darcey's seizures include tonic clonic (jerking), focal and absence. She needs a carer with her at all times and has to carry around her life-saving medicine Buccal midazolam and oxygen.
As well as Dravet syndrome, Darcey has autism and severe development delay. Her core is weak and her balance and gait is unsteady but she mobilises independently.
Over her 8 years she has had numerous seizures but always remains such a happy loving little girl.
Darcey has not had a tonic clonic seizure for nearly 14 months now which is amazing considering she was having them on a weekly basis.
