Biography

Destiny was born prematurely. When she was born there were no signs of life and she had to be intubated until she started breathing on her own. MRI scans showed severe brain damage and Drs said Destiny wouldn’t be capable of anything. Destiny defied all the odds and was discharged less than 2 months after being born, feeding from a bottle.

Unfortunately things changed and she was diagnosed with infantile spasms, regressed and was NG fed and on lots of medication. Destiny has had lots of ups and downs throughout her little life.

Destiny had Peg surgery as her bottle feeding abilities never came back, her seizures developed into West syndrome and even on several types of seizure medications they are uncontrolled.

Recently Destiny stopped breathing, went into cardiac arrest and needed 20 minutes of CPR and then went into status epilepticus and I was told to prepare to lose her but my strong girl proved them wrong again and a week later was discharged from hospital. Since this big event Destiny has majorly been suffering with dystonia and we have many hours of an unsettled baby in lots of pain. We are trying multiple medications to try and help her but so far medication isn’t having an affect.

Destiny loves her blankets, she always has done from being a tiny baby. It helps to calm her down so I can’t wait for her to have a special handmade blanket for her to snuggle up with.
