Biography

Holly was meant to be a boxing day baby but she had other ideas, all my babies were 10ish days late. Hence her name but I fell in love with it so kept it. She is so happy and smiley and it's truly infectious. She will walk up to anybody and start a conversation, if you meet Holly it never leaves you.

Sadly while we were on our way back from Majorca she became very lethargic and I noticed a rash forming in her groin. I took her to the GP, they gave me cream but after 3 days it was getting worse so back we went again and they gave me antibiotics but again she was getting worse. On the third time at the GP we had blood tests and she was blue-lighted to Alder Hey from Leighton Hospital. Our world completely fell apart including for my other two children. My son, who's 11, was also having a tumour removed in his heel so I was driving between two hospitals until a friend stepped in to help.

Holly has been amazing throughout her treatment which hasn't been without challenges with blood transfusions, platelet transfusions which she allergic to and an operation to remove a cyst in her back due to an infection after her first lumbar puncture.

One of the most hard hitting things was the hair loss, she's gone from very long bright curly hair to dark and short. She is still our lovely, kind, smiling Holly though. If it wasn't for the way she's been throughout this awful time I'm not sure how we would have coped. She's remarkable.
