Layering up
The next stage is to layer the backing fabric, the wadding, and the patchwork. I usually do this on my kitchen floor!

Once the three layers are in place, they are pinned together using quilting pins:
Finally, the excess backing/wadding is trimmed down:
Now we are ready for the quilting process.
