Andrew received his quilt today and his words were WOW THATS AWESOME! Thank you very much to everyone that help make it x It is stunning and we will call it his healing quilt x Andrew had brain surgery last week and is currently doing ok x he still gets really bad headaches but is still shunt free (hydrocephalus and spina bifida) x again thank you everyone it's absolutely beautiful

Biography

Andrew was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, his first surgery was the day after he was born and his vp shunt was inserted at 9 days old, he is a full time wheelchair user.
He is currently recovering from brain surgery that he had on Wednesday and then again on Saturday. They have removed his shunt because his body kept rejecting it so they opted for an ETV which is to drill a hole and make an opening through the third ventricle in his brain but there is only a 30% chance of success, so far he has been shunt free since Wednesday with no seizures but is still very poorly. He is home and recovery will be around 6-8 weeks so he's not going back to school until he is fully fit, Andrew is a very active young boy who loves being out to play with his friends and the next few weeks will be hard for him, he has a long road ahead of him but lots of tlc should help him along the way x
