BiographyI found out I was pregnant with Jayden when I went to A&E with stomach pains which turned out to be labour pains. Within a few hours Jayden was rushed to Alder Hey as they had found a heart murmur. After a series of tests they discovered it was the heart condition known as pulmonary atresia.
Jayden spent 18 months at Alder Hey between ward 1C, HDU & ICU with his first cardiac surgery at 10 months and his second at 2 years of age with his 3rd Christmas in HDU.
For the last 3-6 months of his 18 month stay at Alder Hey he moved to ward 4B where he was introduced to the respiratory team. They conducted various tests such as sleep studies, bronchogram and a scope down his throat because they had discovered obstructive sleep apnoea. He now sleeps with a CPAP ventilator over night because he stops breathing when he goes into a deep sleep.
He also has a compromised immune system so even the tiniest sniffle will require an ambulance and most probably an admittance into hospital.
