Biography

Braydan was born as planned via c section. For the first 18 months all seemed somewhat normal. He was always behind with his development but nothing notable. He started nursery at 18 months old because I was going back to work.

He was constantly sick. I put it down to starting nursery like all mums would but then he declined rapidly. He wouldn't eat anything apart from toast and yoghurt. He was tired all the time, sleeping all day apart from meal times. I took him to the GP many times to be told it's a viral infection or chest infection or ear, nose and throat infection. He seemed to be on antibiotics for months before we saw one practitioner who insisted we took him to the hospital. But yet again they said he was fine. We saw the same practitioner again and yet again they sent us back to the hospital and finally they listened. They admitted him and we saw many doctors but didn't get any answers.

After being there for a whole week he was sent for a echo scan and they diagnosed him with Cor Triatriatum sinister. Within the hour we were rushed to Alder Hey hospital. When we got there more doctors looked at Braydan and we were told how lucky we are that Braydan is so strong and that Braydan had been in heart failure from the moment he was born.

He was then diagnosed with rhinovirus and he had to wait a week for surgery. Braydan had surgery on the 17th Dec 2024 which was the longest day of our lives. His surgery lasted about 7 hours and went really well. His recovery took a little longer than expected as Braydan had an infection after the surgery. We were sent home on New Year's Eve.

Braydan has thrived since the surgery. He is walking, talking, eating and drinking. I am so proud of how strong my son is. Braydan will have check ups for the rest of his life. We don't know what the outcome will be.


He is still delayed in development and he still sees a nutritionist as he still won't eat certain foods and especially went he is sick as he has no immune system.
