Biography

We found out about Reggie’s heart during pregnancy and were told the likelihood for survival was very slim and the “nicer option” was comfort care, but we chose the surgery route. Reggie was born in Sept 2016. It was 9 hours before I got to see him as I had a c-section and I lost a large amount of blood. His first surgery was at 4 days old (Norwood), he had a 40% chance of survival but he pulled through. After 2 months we were able to take him home and spend Christmas together. His second surgery was in March 2017 (Glenn). After 6 hours he was back doing well. Because of an infection in the central line he was quite poorly after but we got home after 8 days. Reggie is doing as well as could be right now. The talks are starting for his final surgery (Fontan) at 3-4 years old then after that there are not likely to be any more surgeries. We’ve recently found out he’s not likely to be a candidate for a transplant either. Also Reggie has 2 leaks one in his pulmonary and the other a tricuspid regurgitation plus asd/vsd, a large blood clot and a systolic murmur.
