Biography

Lydia was born prematurely at 34 weeks due to myself having placenta previa and having an emergency c-section due to her becoming distressed. She spent 1 week in the PICU and then was discharged onto the ward. She suffered from low blood sugars and had jaundice which meant she had to spend time under a special lamp and have medicine to regulate her sugar. When she had her developmental checks they were concerned she may have issues due to her large head size, so after a CT scan showed slight swelling due to trauma at birth we started to do extra things to help her development. She sat at 9mths, crawled at 12 mths and walked at 19mths so everything was slightly behind the norm.

Now she is a happy vibrant 12 year old who takes everything in her stride and even when she finds things challenging she throws all her effort into succeeding. She also supports friends who have SEN and is an amazing big sister to Sam who has autism and complex needs and a pleasure to be around.
