Biography

We noticed that our daughter didn't like change and would say it made her feel scared. Gracie-lilly was only around 4 then. Other parents asked at a disability group as they could see Autistic traits. I was told to start looking at girls with autism. Gracie wanted to do kick boxing so we tried. The instructor asked if there was something else going on as she was like another child that has autism. I spoke to school about it and they said that it was just learnt behaviour as two of Gracie-lilly's brothers have ASC.

Last year Gracie-lilly was diagnosed with dyslexia. In that report it said that she couldn't sit still. I spoke to the educational psychologist that did the report to ask if she thought Gracie could have ADHD as a lot of children with dyslexia can also have a co-morbidity. She thought that Gracie-lilly could have ADHD. We then went down the ADHD pathway and after waiting 7 months she was finally seen and was diagnosed with ADHD. But they also picked up on that they thought that she could also have autism. She is now on the pathway for an assessment for autism. It's a long waiting list.

Gracie-lilly gets scared about going places she doesn't know and we always show her where we are going, what it looks like etc. We have always done this as her brothers all have additional needs/ disabilities. Gracie-lilly loves horses - this is all she talks about.
