BiographyJoshua was born at 26 weeks gestation and spent 4 months in hospital. He was at home and stable before we were readmitted having resuscitated Joshua at home ourselves. For the next 6 months we bounced in and out of hospital whilst they tried to find out why Joshua would stop breathing. Eventually they realised that whilst Joshua is asleep he “forgets†to breathe. At ten months we put Joshua into home ventilation via a BiPAP machine and we have been at home ever since.
He’s 5 next week and we have a ventilator and sats monitor and all his other medical equipment in his room. We would use his quilt to remind his carers that Joshua is also a funny/ fiercely stubborn and remarkable young man who has just started mainstream school with 1:1 support.
