Quilt News
This week, Katherine has been working on Elizabeth's quilt She just has a tiny bit of binding to finish and the quilt will be complete! So we hope to bring you news that the quilt has been delivered next week.

Elizabeth's quilt is Katherine's 50th quilt for LoveQuiltsUK - well done Katherine and thank you for your tremendous contribution to LQUK.

Next, Katherine will be working on Aaron's quilt. A few of the signed-up squares haven't come in yet, so we will make up the number from our Any Child square stocks.

Quilts opened/closed
Lewis C 's quilt (Enchanted World) was opened and closed.

We have now reached our capacity of 32 children's quilts for 2011. We are attempting to find more quilters to help us out, but this is proving difficult. In the meantime we have opened Stitch-a-longs on the theme of the colour green, the colour purple, Disney Characters and Butterflies. We also continue to accept Any Child squares on any theme. These squares will be used to put together a quilt in an emergency, or to help with a child's quilt with missing squares. There are of course still a lot of needy children in our sister organisations in Australia, USA and Brazil too.(links on front page)

    (See Fabric page for details).

Thank you very much for this, we are particularly short of plain fabric at the moment so it will be a great help!

Also thank you to everyone who has sent small donations towards the cost of making up the quilts this week, it is very much appreciated.

    World of Cross Stitching Magazine
We are delighted to discover that we are appearing on the "Noticeboard" page of UK magazine World Of Cross Stitching this month!

We have noticed an influx of new stitchers this week, and we presume this is the reason! So a big welcome to World of Cross Stitching readers and thank you for your support! We hope you will enjoy being part of LoveQuiltsUK.

    Quilt News
This week, Katherine has been working on Elizabeth's quilt (Horses). She is just working through the quilting part and hopes to be finished over the next week or so.

Gaynor has been preparing for Bradley's quilt (Tatty Teddy) by cutting out the fabric.

Gaynor has also spent this week ordering fabric from the USA, particularly plain colour fabrics which we don't have a lot of at the moment. Gaynor's friend is visiting from Oregon at the end of March and she has very kindly offered to be a fabric courier! Since fabric is approximately half the price in the USA as it is in the UK, it is a good opportunity to make your kind donations stretch further.

    Quilts opened/closed
Tia-Rose M's quilt (Yellow theme) was opened and closed.
Lewis C 's quilt (Enchanted World) was opened.
Kelli G 's quilt (Dance) was closed.
Lennon S 's quilt was closed.
Joshua D 's quilt (Cartoon characters) was closed.

    2011 quilts
As you know, we reached have reached our capacity (32 quilt applications) for 2011. Lewis C's is the 32nd quilt for 2011 and we will not open any more children's quilts until approx July 2011 for completion in 2012.

If we should manage to recruit another quilter, we will of course immediately review the situation, so if anyone out there is interested in helping to assemble the quilts, we would be delighted to hear from you! To see what's involved, see our How It's Made page.

In the meantime, Katherine and Gaynor have been chatting about having some Stitch-a-longs. These would be squares on a specific theme that we will use in the future for emergency quilts, or possibly to fill gaps in quilts with missing squares. We are thinking about Stitch-a-longs on colour themes (green and purple) and also Disney characters. We would also like to re-open the Mr Man Stitch-a-long as we have quite a lot of Mr Man fabric. If you have an idea for a Stitch-a-long theme, please don't hesitate to get in touch :)

In addition to the Stitch-a-longs, we will also continue to accept Any Child Squares, and of course there are still many needy children in our sister organisations in the USA, Australia and Brazil.

    Quilt News
This week, Eleanor's quilt (Princess theme) has been delivered!

Thank you to all who contributed a square!

No quilting has been done this week as Katherine has been very busy with the children over half-term and Gaynor is very busy in work. Katherine will be back working on Elizabeth's horse quilt when the children go back to school on Tuesday!

    Quilts opened/closed
Lilia Rania's quilt was opened and closed this week. Rania is not a well little girl, so we are doing this quilt as a semi-emergency one. Thank you to those who have signed up to do donkey and bee squares.

    Size of Aida
Can we remind you that the size of Aida for your squares should be 13" by 13", or at a very minimum, 12", with a maximum design size of 9". Although the vast majority of stitchers are conforming to these dimensions, we have received a couple of squares that are around 11". When we wash the square we get some shrinkage on top, so please try to keep to 13"!

If you intend to stitch several squares, it might be worth investing in a square metre of Aida which cuts down very nicely into 9 squares. Buying in bulk works out cheaper too! :)
