2016 Review of the Year
Welcome to our review of 2016!
We have all been very busy stitching and quilting again this year - we passed the 10,000 square milestone and we also passed the 700 quilt mark.
THANK YOU to every one of you who have sent in your lovely squares, quilted them together into fab quilts, or fundraised for us this year.
We thank you for your generosity in donating your time, materials and kindness :)
Here are some statistics on what we have achieved this year:
Total squares received in 2016: 2279 squares
Total quilts delivered in 2016:
188 quilts (8 of these were emergency quilts and 42 were backfilled quilts)
This brings our overall total to 759 quilts since 2008.
We are well on the way to 1,000 quilts now so a massive thank you to you all!
We have a few people that we would like to mention specifically for their efforts:
Kat
Kat has dealt with a massive number of squares this year, despite taking on a full-time job with very long hours, well done Kat for keeping everything in order!
Gaynor
Gaynor has continued her efforts in sourcing fabric, doing the administration and maintaining the website. Well done, Gaynor.
Mrs T
Mrs T (Gaynor's Mum) has washed the majority of the fabric and duvet covers used for LQUK once again this year, before sending out to quilters.
There has been a massive amount of fabric to be dealt with this year, thank you Mrs T for your largely unseen efforts!
Clare Bray - Calendar
A massive thank you to Clare Bray for organising, designing our fundraising calendar this year, and also getting it printed - a great effort from Clare
and such a professional finish to the calendar!
Emergency Quilts
Many thanks to Leanda and Heather for continuing to store the emergency quilt stash and sending them out quickly.
Also thanks to the others who are storing emergency quilts they have made.
Cards
Thank you to Sandra and Debbie who organise the cards we send out with the quilts via our Facebook group.
Labels and cards for backfilled quilts
A big thank you to those who have undertaken labels and cards for backfilled quilts at short notice this year - this made an extra 42 quilts possible.
Auditor
We'd like to thank Jean of Swansea who very kindly audited our accounts for free at the beginning of 2016. We'd also like to thank David Moss of Swansea for assisting with our bank account.

Marie Firth £250 January 2016 for chutney sale
Kim Lawrence sale of reindeer food and Santa keys £68
South Lanarkshire foster carers and family placement team held their annual Christmas Fayre and raised £949.17
Emma Kearsley did a Thorntons tombola and Valentine's card sale at work and raised £121.32
Sophie and Alice Bloodworth who raised over £100 hosting a treasure hunt
Kim Lawrence raised £29.70 during January and Febraury from the sale of stamps which have been kindly donated by customers that use her greetings card shop and local businesses from her village.
Leanne Malcolmson and the Rotary Club of Romsey raised £153.38 from sponsorship from walkers walking the River Test Way! Leanne walked the Test Way for us again in October, well done Leanne!
Leanda, Heather and Nessa sale at their fayre and on eBay raised £386.36.
Moira-Anne Jeffcoat donation in lieu of flowers £300
Susan Miller made some lanyards at Christmas and sold them to staff, raising £184.00.
Tracey P, who is one of our quilters, ran the Torbay half-marathon and raised £500
Sheena and Jenny ran a brilliant coffee morning for us at their workplace, well done ladies!
King's Lynn who held a coffee morning for us and raised £38
Nessa and friends Tapathon and raffle in December £281
Thank you to all those who have made lap-quilts and other items for fundraising purposes.
Gift Aid - thank you to everyone who has sent their Gift Aid declaration in.
We raised £987.24 from Easyfundraising this year - thanks so much to everyone who remembered to visit them before shopping on the Internet, it really does
mount up!
Everyone who has quietly sent in cash, cheques, Paypal donations, text donations etc. this year it has been very gratefully received!

Registered Charity
LoveQuiltsUK passed the £5000 turnover per year threshold this year. We applied and were granted Registered Charity status in 2016. Thank you to all those involved in the
immense administrative efforts to achieve this, particularly those acting as trustees.
Magazine Appearances
This year we appeared in World of Cross Stitching (February 2016) and we have an appearance in Cross Stitch Crazy coming up in early 2017.

Fundraising Tap Dancers
Thank you so much to Nessa and her friends at dance school who recently completed a charity tapathon! They raised a splendid £200 for us from this. They also raised £81 from the raffled dance quilt made by Leanda our quilter!
