2014 Review of the YearWelcome to the LoveQuiltsUK review of 2014! It’s been a truly record-breaking year for LoveQuiltsUK and we’d like to spend a little while looking back over the year and thanking people who have helped us. Gaynor has tried to remember everything that’s happened during this year but life is busy and she may have forgotten a few things! If you feel we’ve left you out, please do email us on contact@lovequiltsuk.com and we will gladly add you to the year review! Stitching and Quilting We have all been very busy during 2014 stitching squares, stitching and making cards and quilting! Total squares received in 2014: 1991 squares! Total quilts delivered in 2014: 141 Quilts! (14 of these were emergency quilts) That brings our overall total to 396 quilts since 2008. We passed our 5000 square milestone in April, and our 6000 square milestone in October! We also passed our 300 quilt milestone in May, and as we enter the New Year we are very close to 400 quilts (currently 396) THANK YOU to every one of you who have sent in beautiful squares and/or quilted them together into gorgeous quilts this year. We are humbled by your kindness and generosity of spirit. Fundraising We have had a large number of people who have contributed to fundraising this year, they include:

Emergency Quilts Many thanks to Leanda and Heather for taking on the job of storing the emergency quilt stash and sending them out quickly – this has really helped Kat and Gaynor out. Also thanks to the others who are storing emergency quilts they have made. Cards Thank you to Sandra and Debbie who organise the cards we send out with the quilts via our Facebook group. Mrs T Mrs T (Gaynor’s Mum) has washed the majority of the fabric and duvet covers used for LQUK this year, before sending out to quilters. Thank you Mrs T for your largely unseen efforts! Auditor We’d like to thank Jean of Swansea who very kindly audited our accounts for free at the beginning of 2013. We’d also like to thank David Moss of Swansea for assisting with our bank account. Support from Businesses We would like to particularly thank Lee Mill Fabrics in Swansea for offering LQUK a discount on cotton fabrics this year, Katzstitch who have catered to LQUK stitchers by selling Aida in our required size (13 x 13 inches) and offering a discount on top, and Colour Catchers who donated 36 boxes to us a couple of years back and we are still using them! We are also grateful to BTMyDonate and Just Text Giving from Vodafone for allowing us to accept credit/debit card and SMS donations for free. In Memoriam It is the nature of our work that some of our quilt recipients pass away from time to time :( This year we would like to remember: Jack B, William F, Ryan M and Harvey M. Rest in peace xx No year review would be complete without taking a look back on the quilts that were delivered this year. Well done and many thanks to Becky and all the stitchers who sent in a snowman :) Fundraising Lap Quilts Further to our last news, almost £100 has been raised from sale of lap quilts so far. Well done to the quilters involved in the project. See our Fundraising Facebook group for further details. Lottery reboot Just a reminder to all parents applying for quilts in our Quilt Lottery that the lottery will be reset at the end of the year, and you will need to reapply for the 2015 lottery from January 1st onwards. We are finding it increasingly difficult to contact parents by email and at least 15 children have missed out on their chance for a quilt because of this (although 15 more got a chance instead!) Please make sure that our email: contact@lovequiltsuk.com is in your safe senders list so our emails don't get lost in a spam box. Fundraising News LesleyAnn has raised £55 in her school Christmas Fayre - thank you very much LesleyAnn!! :) We have received the £500 from Direct Debit and Emma Kearsley received her trophy! Thanks again to Emma for the great work she did on the Direct Debit vote :)   Some of our quilters have been making lap quilts with left over pieces of fabric and they are for sale. Mrs T has been fundraising throughout the year by giving talks at Mothers' Union and various other groups and donating her expenses. She has raised £116. Well done Mrs T! Finally, all of our LoveQuiltsUK 2015 calendars have been posted out and should now be with their new owners.
