This week, Katherine has been working on Lillie-Mae's quilt and Gaynor has completed Abigail's quilt

We will be holding Amber-Rose, Lillie-Mae and Abigail's quilts for posting in the New Year, due to heavy snow conditions and the reported huge backlog within the Royal Mail.

Also this week, Lilly-May's quilt was received! Well done to all the stitchers, and to Katherine for quilting it all together!

    News 04 Dec 2010 - 11 Dec 2010

This week, Katherine has completed Lilly May's quilt. The quilt has been posted, so we are waiting for it to arrive before we post finished pictures - we like the child to see it first!

    Quilt assembly in progress:
Katherine is already about halfway through Lillie-Mae's quilt (twin sister of Amber-Rose). The final square for Abigail's quilt has now arrived, so Gaynor has been washing and drying all the squares and has made a start on the patchwork.

    News 27 Nov 2010 - 04 Dec 2010

We have lots of news to tell you about this week!

Katherine has finished Amber-Rose's quilt. She is now working on Lilly May's and Lillie Mae's quilts. Since Amber-Rose and Lillie-Mae are twins, we have decided to wait until both quilts are complete before we send them, so watch this space! Gaynor has cut out the fabric pieces for Abigail's quilt, just waiting for one last square to arrive.

Just to remind you, we have a deadline coming up on 15th December 2010 for Krystal S (Princesses), Lennon Georgie (Noah's Ark) and Elizabeth (Horses)'s quilts. Still quite a few squares to come in on those, but I'm sure you all have it in hand!

This week Faith M's quilt was opened (Pink Theme) and Toni C's quilt was closed. There are still a few signups remaining for Seraphina and Scott W. We currently have 4 children on our "Coming Soon" list.

We have received 28 squares this week! Many thanks to all those who stitched them! The unusually high number is due to Katherine receiving the Any Child Squares from Karen, some of which had not appeared on the website before, so a belated thanks for those. Particular thanks to the ladies who did the 9 Country hearts squares. We have decided to put 4 of them on to Toni C's quilt as sign-ups were going very slowly, and the rest on to the World Landmarks quilt we intend to make (when we have a minute!) This means that both Toni C's and the World Landmarks quilts are now full, so that has worked out very well.

  • Quilt Squares this week were received from:

Anne-Marie, Upper Bucklebury, England (for Toni C)
Emma, Cheltenham, UK (for Krystal S)
Emma, Cheltenham, UK (for Freya P)
Emma, Cheltenham, UK (for Lotty B)
    Gaynor, Swansea, Wales (for Lillie-Mae)
    Gaynor, Ireland (for Toni C)
Maggie, Kent, England (for Toni C)
Mary, Rainham, Kent, England (for Toni C)
Mrs Helen Smith, Leicester, UK (for Laura W)
    Sandy, USA (for Krystal S)
    Sandy, USA (for Jayden C)
    Sandy, USA (for Elizabeth)
    Sandy, USA (for Lennon Georgie)
Tracey Cunningham, Fife, Scotland (for Elizabeth)

  • Any child squares were received from:

Carolyn, UK for the Flowers/Bugs category
Carolyn, UK for the Hearts category
    Debby, for the Girls category
Emma, Cheltenham, UK for the Teddies category
Jackie, East Halton, Lincs, England for the World Landmarks category
Jenny, Staffs, England for the Girls category
Karen, Kent, UK for the Boys category
Louise, Bridport, England for the World Landmarks category
Magda, Glasgow, Scotland for the Animals/Birds category
Magda, Glasgow, Scotland for the Animals/Birds category
Magda, Glasgow, Scotland for the Flowers/Bugs category
Patricia, Northern Ireland, UK for the World Landmarks category
Su, UK for the World Landmarks category
Vicki, Australia for the World Landmarks category

  • We have had a good week for fabric donations too. Katherine and Gaynor often purchase duvet covers off eBay to "strip for parts" for the backs of quilts to keep costs down. While we use new 100% cotton fabric for the fronts of quilts, duvet cover fabric is very suitable for the back and saves a lot of money.

Gaynor advertised on her work email to see if anyone had any unwanted duvet covers they wouldn't mind donating for free. The response was very good indeed with 15 duvet covers being donated by three ladies. This will save LoveQuiltsUK literally hundreds of pounds so many thanks to Emily, Denise and Karen at Swansea Metropolitan University! (See Fabric page for details)

Also thanks to those who have donated cash with their square this week, it is very much appreciated.

    Happy Stitching!
